Job Title: Fire Safety Manager
Location: South East London
Rate: £367 per day (Umbrella)
Contract: 3–6 month initial contract, with potential to extend

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Fire Safety Manager to join a Local Authority in South East London on an interim basis. This is a vital role leading on the delivery of fire safety compliance and ensuring the highest standards of safety across a large housing portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the responsible and competent person for managing fire risk across housing stock, ensuring compliance with all statutory and non-statutory fire safety responsibilities.
  • Oversee fire risk assessments, inspections and audits across residential, commercial and workplace premises.
  • Develop, implement, and review fire safety emergency plans and procedures.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on fire safety management at both strategic and operational levels.
  • Manage fire risk assessment programmes, contractors, consultants, and internal staff, ensuring robust systems and high standards of delivery.
  • Liaise with external agencies such as the London Fire Brigade, Building Control, and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare fire safety reports, building safety cases, and contribute to emergency planning exercises.
  • Ensure residents’ safety remains at the heart of all activity, engaging with communities and putting customers first.
Requirements
  • Degree educated with chartered or fellowship membership in fire safety, health & safety, or risk management.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
  • Demonstrable experience of fire safety management across social housing or public sector environments.
  • Strong leadership in emergency situations with the ability to manage responses effectively.
  • Experience working with Fire and Rescue Services and relevant external agencies.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and technical report-writing skills.
