Location: West London
Rate: £28 per hour (umbrella)
Contract: 3 to 6 months ongoing contract 

We’re looking for an experienced Housing Benefits Assessor to join a busy West London local authority. The successful candidate will process new claims and change of circumstances for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support, ensuring compliance with legislation and local policies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess and process Housing Benefit & Council Tax Support claims
• Verify income, capital, rent liability, and residency
• Handle complex cases and overpayments
• Deliver accurate decisions within performance targets
• Provide excellent customer service to residents and stakeholders

Requirements:

• Recent local authority Housing Benefit assessment experience
• Strong knowledge of current Housing Benefit legislation
• Proficiency with relevant assessment systems (e.g. Northgate or Civica)
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
