The Role
A secondary school in Birmingham is seeking a knowledgeable and engaging Religious Studies Teacher to join their Humanities department from September 2026 on a full-time, long-term supply basis.
The role involves teaching Religious Studies across KS3 and KS4, alongside Philosophy & Ethics at KS5. You will deliver thought-provoking lessons that encourage critical thinking, discussion, and analysis of ethical, philosophical, and religious issues.
As a full-time role, responsibilities include planning and delivering lessons, assessing student progress, supporting exam preparation, and maintaining a positive classroom environment with high expectations for behaviour and achievement.
 
The Candidate
The successful candidate will:
  • Hold QTS or be an ECT
  • Have experience teaching Religious Studies at secondary level
  • Be confident delivering Philosophy & Ethics at KS5
  • Demonstrate strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Be passionate about encouraging debate, critical thinking, and student engagement
