Job Description
Could you help young children settle into school life and enjoy learning from the very start? Are you looking for early years classroom experience before moving into teacher training?
*** EYFS Graduate Teaching Assistant
*** September 2026 – July 2027
*** £85 - £105 per day
*** Large primary school, Ward of Yardley
*** 1:1, small group and SEN support in EYFS
The Role:
Support children across EYFS through a mix of 1:1 work, small-group activities, and SEN-focused classroom support. You will help pupils follow routines, develop early communication and learning skills, engage in play-based tasks, and access the classroom with confidence. The EYFS framework sets the standards schools must meet to help children learn, develop well, and start school with the right foundation.
The Candidate:
You are patient, positive, and comfortable working with young children at an important stage of their development. You communicate clearly, stay calm in a busy classroom, and want practical early years experience that builds towards teacher training. Teaching assistants support teachers in the classroom and help children with reading, writing, and learning activities, while SEN support staff help pupils with additional needs access learning more successfully.
Requirements
- Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
- Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
- Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
- Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in supporting pupil progress and wellbeing.
- Career Goals – A desire to train as a teacher and build a long-term career in education.
The School:
This large primary school in the Ward of Yardley offers the chance to build strong early years experience in a setting where structure, encouragement, and inclusive support matter. You will work closely with the EYFS team in a role that gives you direct exposure to classroom routines, early development, and the practical strategies schools use to support children with different starting points. The EYFS is designed to support children’s learning and development through a mix of approaches, including play, adult modelling, observation, and adult-guided learning.
