Job Description
Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a new and rewarding challenge? Do you enjoy helping young people with special educational needs to overcome barriers to education? This friendly and supportive special school in South Birmingham is looking to add a Teaching Assistant to the team to provide 1-2-1 and small group support for KS3 students with a range of additional needs including Autism, ADHD, and MLD.
As a Teaching Assistant you will be joining an experienced team of qualified teachers and Teaching Assistants to provide the best possible support for students. You will be supporting the teacher, delivering interventions and ensuring that every child is happy and supported. This role requires previous Teaching Assistant experience and ideally you will hold a level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing classroom support to pupils with special educational needs.
- Offering tailored 1-2-1 and small group interventions.
- Supporting pupils with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation.
- Working closely with teachers and other Teaching Assistants to deliver personalised learning.
- Encouraging independence, confidence, and a love of learning in all pupils.
- Taking part in whole school activities and training.
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, ideally in a SEND setting.
- A calm, patient, and supportive approach to working with children.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting pupils with special needs.
- A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
