SEND Teaching Assistant – South Birmingham – Special School
A welcoming special school in South Birmingham is looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team. This role is ideal for a compassionate and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Autism, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and complex learning needs.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide both 1-2-1 and small group support, helping pupils access learning and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment, ensuring every pupil feels valued and supported. The school has excellent facilities, a strong leadership team, and a highly experienced staff who work collaboratively to deliver the best outcomes for pupils.

Responsibilities include:
  • Providing 1-2-1 and small group support for pupils with SEND.
  • Assisting the class teacher in delivering lessons and adapting resources.
  • Supporting pupils with communication, social skills, and emotional regulation.
  • Helping to create an inclusive, nurturing, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Monitoring and recording pupil progress and behaviour.
  • Encouraging independence and confidence in learning.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND, ideally in a school setting.
  • A patient, caring, and resilient nature.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • A genuine commitment to making a difference in the lives of children with special needs.
