Occupational Therapist – Children’s Services - Gloucestershire

🗓 Part-time – 3 days per week (contract until March 2026)
Pertemps are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join Gloucestershire County Council’s Children’s Services team. This is a part-time locum role (3 days per week) available until March 2026, offering £35 per hour.

Key Requirements:

Significant experience working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
Proven ability to produce high-quality reports for Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
Strong understanding of legal duties and the SEND Code of Practice
Skilled in managing a diverse caseload, including children with complex disabilities
Expertise in occupationally focused assessment, intervention, and report writing

Main Responsibilities:

Provide expert occupational therapy assessment, advice, and intervention for children and young people with a range of needs
Act as Lead OT for SEND appeals and tribunal legal processes, contributing as an expert witness in contested cases
Offer second opinions where OT provision in EHCPs is challenged
Collaborate closely with the EHCP Team, schools, families, and other professionals to achieve the best outcomes for children
Apply specialist knowledge to complex cases within an educational context

What We’re Looking For:

HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist with a strong background in Children’s Services
Significant experience working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
Proven track record of producing high-quality EHCP reports
Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and the SEND Code of Practice
Ability to manage a complex caseload with professionalism and efficiency
Skilled communicator who can work collaboratively with families, schools, and professionals
