Are you looking for a meaningful role where you can safeguard the financial interests of some of the most vulnerable adults in your community? A progressive West London Council is seeking a dedicated Client Affairs Officer to join its Adult Social Care Finance team. In this role, you will administer statutory appointeeships and deputyships, property protection, and Council funeral services, protecting the rights and finances of residents who cannot manage these themselves.
Key Responsibilities
Manage appointeeship and deputyship clients’ finances, ensuring bills and accounts are accurately maintained and reconciled in line with Council procedures and regulations.
Submit applications to the Department for Work and Pensions to secure appointeeship roles and ensure clients receive all entitled benefits.
Oversee property protection, including storage of assets and pets, ensuring appropriate charges and care arrangements.
Liaise with solicitors, estate agents, and the Court of Protection regarding financial and property matters, including property sales where directed.
Administer estates following client deaths, ensuring Council debts and personal effects are handled properly.
Coordinate Council-funded funerals with respect for deceased wishes, religions, and financial constraints.
Represent the Council in case conferences and CPA meetings, advising care managers and other professionals on financial safeguarding issues.
Maintain accurate records, prepare financial reconciliations, and comply with health and safety, data protection, and emergency planning protocols.
About You
Experience working with vulnerable adults and knowledge of adult social care charging and benefits, ideally within a local authority setting.
Strong financial administration skills, including experience with appointeeship, deputyship, and Court of Protection processes.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to manage sensitive conversations with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
Highly organised with attention to detail and able to prioritise workload effectively to meet deadlines.
Proactive, can-do attitude with ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Comfortable working in a hybrid model with 1 day in office and 1.5 days remote per week.
