Job Description
What you will be doing as a Construction Assurance Engineer, you will be involved in a variety of projects covering asset protection, clean and wastewater diversions, network reinforcement, and the delivery of new water and wastewater infrastructure across London.
Working closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Construction Teams, you will take the lead in ensuring construction activities are conducted effectively and in full compliance with health and safety standards, always placing safety at the forefront of our operations.
You will be responsible for overseeing construction activities from initial planning through to final delivery. This includes monitoring compliance with Thames Water’s asset standards as well as with environmental, safety, and quality regulations. Acting as the on-site representative for Thames Water, you will ensure that projects progress according to plan and liaise regularly with the wider project and operational teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all on-site construction activities from inception to completion.
- Ensure full compliance with asset, safety, environmental and quality standards.
- Act as the main on-site representative for Thames Water.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery.
- Support the development of customer-focused solutions.
- You will actively promote the Thames Water ‘Three Zeros’ culture associated with our health and safety performance. These are ‘Zero Incidents, Zero Harm & Zero Compromise.
This is a unique opportunity to work across a diverse range of projects, from £250,000 to over £5 million in value. You’ll gain broad exposure to both water and wastewater infrastructure, delivering innovative and high-impact solutions that benefit both our customers and Thames Water.
Base: Location Field Based – Travel across London.
Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
What you should bring to the role:
It is envisaged that the appointed Construction Assurance Engineer will have a comparable background in ensuring the effective compliance, health and safety and the delivery of construction projects focused on our asset protection.
- Good communication and coordination skills, as well as the ability to work well independently.
- The ability to manage conflicting priorities and remain calm under pressure.
- Self-motivated, resilient and outgoing to succeed.
- Customer service and customer management skills would also be highly advantageous for this position.
- A proven record of embedding a Health and Safety culture and evidence of.
- Previous experience of working in construction or the water industry is highly advantageous, but not essential.
- You will ideally hold some technical experience using systems such as Microsoft packages, SAP and CRM; however, this is not essential.
- Due to the nature of the role, a full UK driving licence is required and Business insurance.
- A good understanding of CDM regulations.
