Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Learning Support Officer (Training Development) to join our client based in Lyneham.

As part of their growth in training services you will play a critical part in ensuring that all students with Specific Learning Differences (SpLD) or additional support needs are identified, assessed, and provided with the appropriate interventions and access arrangements to enable them to succeed in their learning and future roles.

Key responsibilities
  • Provide effective delivery of learning support for students and trainees, including signposting support for permanent staff.
  • Manage the learning support function in accordance with the contract's requirements.
  • Deliver study skills lessons, individual learning plans, coaching, and personal development support.
  • Conduct SpLD assessments, implement Access Arrangements, and deliver essential skills instruction.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of SpLD assessments, interventions, and learning tools.
  • Collaborate with external providers and promote learning support best practice across all delivery areas.
  • Provide specialist support for trainers and staff, sharing effective approaches for working with students with SEN.
  • Ensure all data management complies with relevant legislation, regulations, and organisational policies.
  • Identify areas for improvement, participate in audits, and contribute to quality improvement plans.
  • Align work with relevant ISO standards (including ISO9001).

Essential skills and qualifications
  • Articulate with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Innovative mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Recognised Teaching Qualification (Level 4 FE, Level 5 Cert Ed or Level 6 PGCE).
  • Recognised SEND qualification.

Essential requirements
  • Significant experience in education/training quality (ideally within adult or military environments).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and data management systems.
  • Specialist teaching and delivery experience.
  • Experience in managerial roles within a training organisation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage at all levels.
  • Knowledge of learning theories, coaching, mentoring, and continuous improvement processes.
  • Experience developing training within a military context.
  • Knowledge of College IP, Power BI, or similar platforms.
  • Experience conducting Access Arrangements assessments.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified learning support professional with specific SpLD, assessment experience, strong coaching skills, and a background in adult or military training.
