Location: Madison Area, Wisconsin
Our client are a leading, fast paced manufacturing organisation currently seeking an experienced Director of Quality. The successful candidate will be a trusted leader who can leverage and strengthen the department. you will have experience of in depth gap analysis and be a key figure in mapping out the future of quality for the company. We are ideally seeking individuals with clear and concise communication skills to empower those around them.
Responsibilities
• Ensure all quality related procedures are reviewed and up to date, and work with Quality Managers to train all operators and leads on those procedures.
• Maintain high standard of quality for packaging and liquid processes.
• Promote and implement GFSI (SQF) practices in the workplace.
• Establish goals for Quality Team that align with quality standards of customers and the company.
• Address all quality concerns as they arise, engaging all leads and managers as necessary.
• Keep accurate documentation and perform statistical analysis.
• Look for opportunities for improvement and develop new efficient procedures.
• Manage the proper use of PPE and safety protocols for all laboratory employees.
• Perform standardised laboratory tests on in-process and finished beer, including wort and yeast.
• Perform general chemical and microbiological analyses on water and the working environment.
• Conduct ongoing sensory analysis and training.
• Manage lab and safety budget including both equipment and supplies.
• Establish living HACCP plan.
• Establish plant wide quality training program.
• File compliance documents with TTB and related agencies.
• Establish lab training proficiency program.
• Establish micro lab ways of working to ensure highest quality of results.
• Establish quality minimum mandatory sampling plan and sampling frequencies throughout the plant.
• The person will be part of the Leadership Team (Operating Committee of Manufacturing and Local Logistics) to define short- and long-term strategies for sites.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Conscientious, confident, and responsible.
• A keen eye for detail and a results driven approach.
• Outstanding communication skills.
• Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
• In-depth understanding of quality control procedures and relevant legal standards.
• Excellent math abilities and working knowledge of data analysis/statistical methods.
Education and Experience:
• BS in Food Science, Chemistry, Pharma or related field.
• Experience implementing or working with GFSI (SQF) principles.
• 6+ years in a quality role.
• Past management experience.
• Proven experience in a quality role.
• Certification of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) is a plus.
• Certification of quality control is a strong advantage (ISO 9000 etc.).
