OVERVIEW:
• Undertake all aspects of criminal defence work within the firm’s crime department
• Manage a varied caseload, providing advice and representation from police station to Magistrates’ and Crown Court proceedings
• Prepare cases thoroughly and draft legal documentation
• Ensure compliance with professional standards and legal aid requirements
• Effectively manage workload and prioritise tasks in a busy environment
• Work closely with colleagues and external professionals, including counsel, court staff and the police
• Deliver a high standard of client care
• Newly Qualified Solicitor and/or Duty Solicitor with a strong interest in criminal defence work
• Good computer literacy and keyboard skills
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Able to perform well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Full driving licence and access to a car (parking provided)
