Job Description

Sustainability Consultant – Bristol Area
📍 Location: Bristol
💼 Sector: Building Services Consultancy
🔧 Focus: Technical, Hands-on, Modelling

We’re partnering with a well-established building services consultancy in Bristol, renowned for delivering complex MEP projects across commercial, healthcare, education, and defence sectors. They’re now expanding their sustainability team and looking for a hands-on Sustainability Consultant to drive energy and carbon modelling and support low-carbon design delivery.
This role is perfect for someone with a strong technical foundation in energy and carbon analysis who thrives on practical, project-focused work—both in design and on-site.

What you’ll do

  • Conduct dynamic simulation and thermal modelling using tools like IES VE or DesignBuilder.
  • Develop and implement carbon reduction strategies across M&E and architectural interfaces.
  • Support compliance reporting including EPCs, Part L, TM54, BREEAM, and other frameworks.
  • Advise on low-carbon technologies such as heat pumps, CHP, PV, and district energy systems.
  • Collaborate closely with the M&E team to integrate sustainability strategies into coordinated designs.
  • Contribute to BIM/Revit workflows for environmental analysis.
  • Occasionally visit sites to support commissioning, surveys, and performance reviews.
  • Present modelling results clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Who we’re looking for

  • Hands-on technical expertise in sustainability, building services, or environmental engineering.
  • Proven experience with energy modelling tools (e.g., IES VE, DesignBuilder, TAS, Excel-based calculations).
  • Familiarity with UK sustainability regulations and frameworks.
  • Strong communicator across disciplines—M&E engineers, architects, clients, and contractors.
  • Comfortable balancing office-based analysis with occasional site visits.
  • BIM/Revit experience or a willingness to develop these skills.
  • Professional accreditations (e.g., LCEA, CIBSE Low Carbon Consultant) are a bonus.

Why this role matters

  • Sustainability isn’t just a box to tick—it’s central to the consultancy’s ethos.
  • Work alongside experienced engineers on projects with low and zero-carbon targets.
  • Join a pragmatic, technical team that values hands-on problem solvers.
  • Enjoy hybrid working, with meaningful engagement in projects from design to delivery.
