Position: Generator Depot Engineer
Salary: £28,000 - £30,000
Hours: Full-time, Permanent - 8am to 5pm (40-hour week)
Location: South Wales

Job Overview:

This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading power solutions provider and work with the largest generator specialist in the Southwest. In this role, you’ll support the Generator Engineer Foreman and Rental team with the preparation, testing, and repair of generator sets.
The position is primarily depot-based, with occasional travel to sites when required.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Service, maintain, and ensure the overall upkeep and appearance of generators (15KVA+), following recommended service schedules.
  • Provide general support in the yard, including loading and offloading equipment.
  • Operate a forklift when needed.
  • Re-book generators into stock.
  • Carry out servicing and repairs off site when required.
  • Participate in the engineers’ call-out rota (currently 1 week in 5), subject to training.
  • Install and synchronise generator packages both on-site and within the depot.
  • Follow all Health & Safety policies, maintaining tidy and safe work areas, including company vehicles.
  • Comply with company quality and safety procedures, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.


Skills & Experience:
 
  • A relevant qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Diesel Fitting, Plant, or similar (City & Guilds, BTEC, or equivalent), or experience working with generators or large diesel engines.
  • Full driving licence essential (towing categories preferred).
  • Forklift licence beneficial (training can be provided).
  • Experience in a workshop environment is an advantage.
  • CSCS card preferred but not essential (training available).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible approach to meet business needs.
