Job Description

Role: Finishing & Packaging Operator
Salary: £33,013.50
Location: Nottingham
Shifts: 06:00 – 13:30, 13:30 – 21:00, 21:00 – 0600
 
The Opportunity:
We are seeking experienced Finishing & Packaging Operators to join a busy food packaging production team. As a Finishing & Packaging Operator, you will play a key role in ensuring high-quality output and efficient operation of finishing machinery, including folder gluer operations, window patching, and tray making. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills, work with modern machinery, and grow within a supportive production environment.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the correct job codes and versions are set on the machine.
  • Conduct comprehensive shift changeovers and pass relevant information to subsequent shifts.
  • Obtain approval from the Cell Leader or Finishing Manager once make-ready is completed.
  • Monitor and maintain the quality and output of work, making adjustments where necessary.
  • Maintain optimum machine speed and keep the machine area tidy and safe.
  • Efficiently utilise any machine staff provided and provide coaching and guidance as required.
  • Complete all required documentation in line with ISO 9001 standards.
  • Report breakdowns or abnormalities immediately.
  • Support preventative maintenance, including stock checks and re-ordering parts.
  • Provide holiday and sickness cover across other machines and assist colleagues when needed.
  • Comply with Health & Safety procedures, Lean Manufacturing standards, and BRC rules and regulations.
  • Undertake other duties as required to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to Information Security Management System (ISMS) policies.

What We Are Looking For:
  • Proven experience operating finishing and packaging machinery (experience with Bobst, Alpina, Jagenberg, Heiber, and Schroeder is beneficial but not essential).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and provide guidance where required.
  • Good communication skills and proactive problem-solving ability.
  • Awareness of Health & Safety standards and best practice within production environments.
