Job Description

We are recruiting a highly skilled Buyer to work within a Supply Chain team for a business based in Kingswinford. If you are ambitious and want to progress, we would love to hear from you!

The main objective of the position will be to  ensure stock levels meet agreed stock turn targets to maximise ROI and to ensure that stock availability is maintained to cover forecast sales.

The main duties of the role will be:
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies that drive cost savings and improve supply chain efficiency for key commodities.
  • Conduct thorough market analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for commodity procurement.
  • Manage supplier relationships, monitoring performance and addressing any issues to maintain high standards of quality and service.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to forecast demand and align procurement activities with business needs.
  • Continuously assess and optimize sourcing strategies to enhance supplier diversity and mitigate supply chain risks.
  • Analyse commodity markets and pricing trends to provide actionable insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Use the stock re-order system to monitor and replenish stock levels within the agreed limits
  • Update and maintain a supplier database which is easy to access and includes potential suppliers as well as current suppliers.
  • Conduct all of your duties within corporate compliance regulations.
  • Health and Safety requirements will always be the overriding factor with all purchasing decisions.
 
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
  • Experience in procurement or commodity buying, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Proven track record of successful negotiations and supplier management.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and trends.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Experience in developing and implementing procurement strategies
  • Knowledge of procurement software and systems, such as ERP.
  • Certification in procurement (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) is a plus but not essential
  • Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
  • Expertise in commodity market analysis and pricing strategies would be an advantage
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and data analytics tools for reporting and analysis.
  • Familiarity with supply chain management principles and practices.
