Role: Senior Space Strategy Lead 
Location: Bath (hybrid working model)
Salary: £55,000 to £73,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Contract: 12-month FTC with potential of becoming a permanent position
Hours: Monday–Friday, standard office hours
Start Date: ASAP

Overview
A leading institution is seeking an experienced space management professional in a high-profile position to join its wider team. The successful candidate will lead strategic space planning and coordination across the estate, ensuring efficient, sustainable, and inclusive use of space to enhance staff experience. They will work closely with senior leaders and a wide range of stakeholders, influencing decision-making and driving initiatives that align with the organisation’s strategic goals.

This role is ideally suited to a senior professional with a proven track record in leading complex space or estate management programmes at a strategic level. The right candidate will be skilled at building trust and influence with senior stakeholders, managing competing priorities, and delivering results in a large, complex organisation. Strong analytical, communication, and project leadership skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide senior-level leadership on space strategy, planning and utilisation across the estate, including city centre sites and satellite offices.
  • Analyse current and future space demand to support operational and sustainability objectives.
  • Lead and deliver space-related initiatives and projects aligned to Estates Strategy and wider organisational priorities.
  • Develop and embed effective space management policies, processes and governance arrangements.
  • Provide clear, robust space data, insights and advice to senior stakeholders to support decision-making.
  • Drive a space-efficient culture through engagement with academic departments, and professional services.
  • Provide organisational support to key space governance groups, supporting effective decision-making and accountability.
  • Represent the organisation externally in relevant sector networks and forums.
  • Deputise for the Director of Sustainability and Space when required.

Essential experience and skills required:
  • Proven track record of leading complex space management or estate-related programmes at a senior strategic level.
  • Experience working in a large, complex organisation.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate and build trust at senior level.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong understanding of space utilisation, sustainability, health & safety and value-for-money considerations.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and deliver at pace.

Desirable:
  • Recognised health and safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH).

Additional Information:
  • Hybrid working with an expectation of being on site 2–3 days per week.
  • Occasional UK travel, including overnight stays, to attend sector events or networks
